Francesco Vigliotti

is an Italian Photographer & Curator who works on long-term documentary projects. He studied natural sciences at the Sapienza University of Rome and whilst continuing his studies in photography. In 2021, Francesco was selected to receive a scholarship at the BluOcean higher educational school sponsored by National Geographic Italy to study documentary photography and reportage. In 2022 he started a Master course in contemporary photojournalism at Officine fotografiche in Rome.

Francesco is deeply committed to climate and social issues. After his numerous trips to Madagascar he started the production of “The raft of the Medusa” his long term project that focuses the impact of climate change on the Malagasy population. He had also deeply documented the Pollino National Park, the biggest Italian reserve, and all the actions that its specialists carry out to safeguard their territory.

Francesco had the opportunity to contribute as a photographer to various sustainable tourism guide such as the “Bike paths Park Calabria Official Guide” winner of the Italian Green Road Award 2021 and the “Ring Cycle Route of Lucanian Park” published by Ediciclo Editore.

In 2023 he started the documentation about the issue of Italian medical cannabis and the ongoing project A.I.M , a portrait “hybrid” photo story done with the help of artificial intelligence that focuses on the continuous profiling processes to which people are subjected during social media interactions.

Francesco is also the Curator of the SKY•EYE Exhibition that took place at IILA Italian Latin-American International Organisation, the exposition that aims to raise awareness about the use of satellites for studying climate change, connects satellite photographs with various photographic projects by international photojournalists who have documented impact, adaptation, or mitigation of climate change in the same locations captured from space.

Aside from his personal projects, Francesco Vigliotti contributes to the photographic archive of the Sila National Park, Pollino National Park, Agency for the Territorial Promotion of Basilicata Region.
